About the Doctoral Researcher Council

Who are we?

The Doctoral Researcher Council is the University’s representative body for all doctoral researchers. At the University of Konstanz, this council operates on the faculty level.

All accepted doctoral researchers are members of the council and can get involved. Each of the three faculty councils is guided by a board, whose members are elected by their faculty's doctoral researchers. You can find the current board members here.

What do we do?

The Doctoral Researcher Council allows doctoral researchers to voice their interests. The council helps to amend the state university law, so that doctoral researchers now form a separate status group. Through this, they are represented in all university bodies, which are elected regularly. Furthermore, the council administrates the university body fees of doctoral researchers for their needs.

Also, council representatives participate, for example, in the development of a code of practice for doctoral studies. This code serves as a guideline for the supervision and support during the doctoral studies. The council also gives their members the opportunity to voice their opinion on impending changes to the doctoral study regulations.

Besides having an influence on internal university processes, the Doctoral Researcher Council is also an important tool of self-organization. The council facilitates the peer-to-peer interaction between doctoral researchers and establish networks across Baden-Württemberg.

How can I get in touch?

Board and active members of the doctoral students’ conventions at the University of Konstanz can be contacted via email and are happy to respond to all suggestions and questions.

Furthermore, all doctoral students' conventions organize general assemblies, regular informal meetings and information sessions (e.g. concerning higher education policies).

Your participation is essential. We are very happy if you work actively for the interests of doctoral students!
