Certificate of conduct required for all new professors
Before they can be hired, all new professors are required to provide an extended certificate of conduct ("erweitertes Führungszeugnis zur Vorlage bei einer Behörde") that is not more than three months old (as per § 30a BZRG (Federal Central Criminal Register Act)).
The certificate of conduct can be requested from your local registry office (Meldebehörde) or from the Federal Office of Justice (if you live outside Germany). It usually takes three to four weeks to issue the document. You are responsible for paying the respective fee (currently about € 13).
The Human Resources team will send you a letter specifying the type of certificate of conduct that is required and that you can present to the authority issuing the respective certificate of conduct.
