You can submit your thesis as follows:

1. Send your thesis by registered mail (the date of the dispatch postmark applies!)

2. Hand your thesis in at the central post room of the University of Konstanz (A 531). Please note that the internal forwarding and registration process of your thesis may take 1-2 working days.

Please put your thesis in an envelope and also include all the required documents mentioned in your letter of admission. Write the name of your contact person on the envelope and send it to the following address:

Universität Konstanz
Abteilung Studium und Lehre
Zentrales Prüfungsamt / Fach 70
Universitätsstr. 10
78464 Konstanz

GERMANY

Withdrawal or extension of the allotted time

During the final exam period, you are required to immediately (i.e. on the first day of illness!) inform your contact person in the Central Examination Office by email or phone and go to the doctor if you want to request the following because of your illness:

  • extension of the allotted time for writing your thesis
  • return of the topic of your written thesis or
  • postponement of your final oral examination.

To document your illness, it is mandatory that you use the form for withdrawal from an exam and extension of the thesis deadline. The original medical certificate has to be sent to the Central Examination Office as soon as possible via postal mail. You can send it via email attachment (pdf) in advance.

Important: The extension period will only start the day you announce your illness to the Central Examination Office. If you submit the medical cetificate later, the days already passed before your announcement will not be recognized. The inability to take the exam due to illness cannot be recognized in retrospect. Please also note the information included with the medical certificate.

Exceptions: In the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics as well as the subjects in the Department of Economics, you have to submit the medical certificate and, if applicable, the extension request, to the department. Please contact your department directly for more information.
