The University of Konstanz's data protection officer, who reports directly to the Kanzler, is per § 37 ff. of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) assigned to the Data Protection staff unit. The data protection officer is responsible for performing the tasks set out in § 39 GDPR. He advises and informs the Rectorate and university staff members on their data protection obligations, ensures that the university's data protection measures are implemented and liaises with the Landesbeauftrager für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit (state commissioner for data protection and the freedom of information).
